MadLUG is the Madison area Linux Users Group. Our goals are Linux advocacy, education, helping others with Linux, community-building, sharing ideas, and outreach. Our users come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are academics and students; others are system administrators, web designers and other IT professionals; and others simply enjoy computers. We have a diverse set of interests and ideas. There's always lots of great discussion on all things Linux, software, and technology.
This is a group for anyone interested in writing software to make your life easier. Perl hackers, devops-ers, sysadmins and hobbyists that want to get together and talk about Perl, CPAN modules or whatever. We plan to consistently meet on the third Thursday of each month. Before each meeting we also want to offer a training session for beginners. Typically the training session will begin at 6pm and then a presentation at 7pm. The group is best described as a "happy hour with an agenda". While about half of the members have Security in the title, anyone is welcome. Meetings have no agenda, but we welcome presentations. Discussions are open and often focus on beer brewing, Sector67, devops, cross-contry bike rides and many other security and random topics that happen to interest whomever sits at the table.
